Manufacturer's Warranty Two-year limited warranty on parts About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Marcy Recumbent Magnetic Bike July 26, 2006 Joann Lee 74 out of 74 found this review helpful
I bought this bike based on one review -- and it was, also, 5 stars. It took my husband less than an hour to put together. It is compact and super quiet. I am 5'6" and my husband is 6'1" -- and we can both ride it comfortably (although he doesn't use it). It does have a 300 lb weight capacity limit -- but other than that -- for the money -- you can't beat it. I really enjoy it. I only wish that my treadmill was as compact and as quiet (plus, the treadmill cost several hundreds of dollars more). I am more than pleased with the product. If you are looking for a recumbent bike -- this is a winner for the $$$. Great for back pain, also -- which is what drove me to go for a recumbent bike after using one in physical therapy. It is much different from the normal stationary bike -- so, please -- don't confuse the two.
Well built machine November 30, 2006 R. CROSBY (Northern, illinois) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
A nice heavy bike that will take lots of use I think. Easy to put together with no problems. The tension you can set on this is amazing. Lots of differance between the easy tension setting and the harder setting. I am 6 foot two inches tall and fit the unit with ease. This bike is rated up to 310 pounds for a user. Very quiet, not even a whisper while in use.
definitely not disappointed :) June 22, 2007 Smeggy (Collingswood NJ) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I've had the bike for a few months & i use it a few times a week. overall i am quite happy with it, it is holding up quite nicely. I think it's a great value for the price. I figured a cheap bike would hold up better than a cheap elliptical machine & i'm pretty strapped for cash so i couldn't get anything over $300. I went with this bike based on other reviews & i'm happy i did. It did get a little rickety & wobbly on me after a few weeks of use but i tightened the screws up (on the bottom stand in the front, they came loose after some use) & now it's not rickety anymore. I figure it's not a big deal, if it gets wobbly again i'll just tighten them up again.
***Quality---- Very nice looking machine with a well padded & comfortable seat. I've used it for 1 hr at a time & it's quite comfortable. There are handles in the front and also some on the sides. I like using the side ones for temporarily holding myself up in the air when i want to really push hard. (it gives your bum a nice little break too)
I am 5'7". I have plenty of leg room & i would guess that there is enough leg room adjustment for most everybody. I like to be closer to the pedals rather than lounging back. So i have it pulled up pretty close to the base. My knees do come quite close to the handle bars as my legs are pretty long. Fortunately there's just enough room left that they don't hit them. and I guess i could just move the seat back a notch if they did hit.
The pedals come with foot straps but i don't like to use them. I tried them out though & they seem to work good.
The bike is very quiet on any setting which is a welcome change from my old exersize bike.
I don't know how accurate the calorie counter is but i don't think any "one-size-fits-all" calorie counters are ever accurate. (I mean how can it really be accurate? I think calories burned depends on several things like age, weight & fitness level) It keeps time accurately. I didn't try to clock the distance or speed so i'm not sure if they are accurate but they seem to be.
The tension sets higher than i would probably ever use & i'm sure will be more than adequate for most people. It has 8 different levels, #8 being the hardest. I tried it out on all levels & i think it works great. The lower & middle settings have a nice fluid motion. When i first got the bike & tried the higher settings (6-8) i thought it wasn't as smooth. But now that i've gotten stronger i am able to use the higher settings & they work fine. i think they were just too hard for me because i wasn't conditioned for them yet. I think level 8 is plenty hard but i'm not sure about people who bike a lot all the time & are in amazing shape. I concider myself to be in the very good/intermediate level & the 8 has PLENTY of tension for me. i usually stay lower like 3-4 for msot the time but like to mix it up every few minutes by cranking it up for a minute at a time at higher levels. i usually use level 6, or level 7 if i really want to work hard. i don't even use the 8th level it's still too hard for me.
***Shipping---- delivery was delayed but amazon refunded my overnight shipping charge so it worked out that i got it shipped for free. and it was only one day late so i don't really mind. The box was in great condition. All the pieces were there & nothing was scratched or damaged.
***Assembly---- my boyfriend & i put it together in about 2 hrs. For the most part it was easy. I think one might be able to do it alone but it may be difficult at certain parts. Definitely have someone help you if possible. Thankfully all the pieces were there. At first i thought some were missing but there's one type of screw that the booklet says there are 24 of. There aren't 24 identical screws. There's really 2 different size screws, together they equal 24 screws. (The smaller screws are for attaching the seat & seat back.)
You will need a wrench, preferably 2 wrenches or wrench & plyers, to assemble it well. We got it together fine but it seemed a little bit rickety. So we used 2 wrenches to tighten some of the screws on the seat & seat back that wouldn't tighten well otherwise. (those screws don't tighten with the tool they supply. and by hand it is nearly impossible to get them tight enough)
We also used the wrench to loosen a screw that is part of the tension wire you have to connect. The metal wire didn't have enough slack to slide the pieces into place. Turns out there is a screw on the wire under the part you have to hook together. Once you loosen it up you can create enough slack to fit the pieces together. The problem was that the screw was SO TIGHT that we couldn't get it loose with our bare hands. I don't know how common that problem is but I would make sure you have at least one wrench handy just in case.

This bike is excellent. It is small enough to fit into my office, and works great. Minimal effort to put together.
Great Bike/Price January 9, 2007 J. Dixon (Rockville, MD) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
It's super quiet, you can even sleep when someone else is on it. It's a great deal and Amazon had the best price. BUY IT!! No regrets. :) Oh and I'm 5'4" and the bf is 6'3" - any taller then that and I wouldn't get it. 300 pound limit as well and the boyfriend weighs a little more then that and no problem at all.
